Stitching bridges

In the last week or so, I've been trying out stitching on a bridge shadows photo I took in the US in September. This time my aim was to accentuate and develop the graphic qualities of the image - black and white contrast, shape and simplicity - rather than to interrupt it and mask it a little as I've tried before.

Small sections are shown here.

I'm planning to do something larger - perhaps a composite piece - once I've tried out a few more ideas. Maybe it will contain both approaches or something different again. Time will tell ...

    1. Thank you, Sharron. Not sure that there will be much more of this for a while ... I feel Christmas card making coming on!

  3. This is looking wonderful. Love the bold black stitched lines. Hand stitching adds something very special to a piece doesn't it? (Hope your Christmas card-making session is nearly done so you can get back to stitching!!!!)

  4. I'm experimenting for a bigger piece and will try other things once those Christmas cards are finished!

  5. Sorry to be coming to the conversation so late, but I am catching up on blog-browsing a bit and just had to add my admiration to that of the others! The "interrupting" was interesting, but this is an equally interesting way of building upon the original geometry - beautiful!

    1. There is more to come with this idea - 'building upon the original geometry' as you so delightfully put it ... I just need some 'me' space to do some thinking ... hard to find recently.
