Random glimpses of the Dee Valley, Aberdeenshire

We have had the great pleasure of meeting up with all the family in Scotland for a brief stay this summer. We visited favourite family haunts and found new ones, we photographed random things that amused us and we collected treasured memories. What else are family holidays for?

Climbing up the Burn O'Vat waterfall
A moment of quiet contemplation for one of the family (Why could I never do that?)
Grouped across the water in Glen Tanar - bracing themselves for the cold swim back?
Building bridges (something else I can't do - though I could once)
                                                                 The steam train at Crathes

                                                              Two views of Loch Kinord

And the tourist information booth in Kincardine O'Neil ...

Yes really, complete with cupboard, a map and leaflets all fitted into an old red phone box!

Now it's September and soon it'll be back home for us all and to work and the start of school for some, but I know we'll be back.

    1. The last of the tribe go home tomorrow and we have another week or so and a brief foray north before we head south with the end of summer. It has indeed been a real delight.

  2. What a lovely holiday! And beautiful pics...and the information booth....too perfect! Enjoy the rest of your time away.

    1. Thank you, Marny. Just another week and summer and its holidays will be well and truly over for us. Our oldest granddaughter returns to school on Monday and the two middle ones begin school next week. My how time flies!

  3. Oh, this looks like you had a lovely holiday with the family ! Love the Information Booth !!!

    1. Lovely to hear from you again, Sharron. I'm afraid I've been a poor communicator this summer but we have indeed had a lovely summer, much of it spent with family, a great pleasure as the grandchildren grow up.
Those red telephone boxes (now made redundant by the cell phone) have found all sorts of new uses - village libraries, book exchanges, plant stalls, but I was amused by the amazing neatness of this on, so obviously carefully tended.

  4. Great blog having interesting things.

    1. Very many thanks for your comment and welcome to my blog. It's always interesting to have people's thoughts on what I write and to make contact.
