Following my return home, I've been playing with some Scottish photos taken at Loch Kinord in Aberdeenshire, a much photographed spot. Here especially, I seem always to be after the perfect shot.
There's been more time spent with Adobe Photoshop and converting to black and white and playing with contrast.
In the first, I was fascinated by the interplay of those upright, strong, tall pine trunks and the shadows they cast on the ground.

In the second, it was fragility of the silver birches that caught my eye.
And in the last, it was that wonderful, bent birch framing the view down the loch and too tall and etiolated for its own strength.
Forgive me if you've seen similar before, but I can never resist them.
These are screeching Thermofax Screens at me!!
ReplyDeleteYes - and me - though which one to choose is the problem!
DeleteBeautiful images. Crying out for line work.
ReplyDeleteIndeed - and I have some other thoughts too ...
DeleteI shall be interested to see what you make of these.
ReplyDeleteRight now, I'm thinking small windows of the tree shapes with extended stitching. I've done a few in Pitt pen on paper and am thinking how stitch on fabric would best work - if at all ... I will post when I have anything profitable to show.
DeleteNo need to apologise, I could look at these for hours - they're entrancing.
ReplyDeleteYou are very kind! I certainly can't ignore them. They seem to have wormed their way into my subconscious. There must be something to develop in those shadows if nothing else ...
DeleteOh ya ! Beautiful ... never tire !
ReplyDeleteI now need time to do some trying out of ideas but it's rather elusive right now - the reason also that I haven't got back to you about free stitching either ... I haven't forgotten!
DeleteThank you, Connie. I'm still preoccupied with this black and white tree thing ... and going with the flow. Very potent imagery for me somehow.
ReplyDeleteThese are all lovely. I tried to decide which one was my favourite and I've just spent time bouncing back from one to another....can't decide. So effective....can't wait to see what you do with them.
ReplyDeleteStill looking...I don't know, it might be the last one, I love that bent tree and the views in the distance, but then.....
Many thanks for your lovely comments. I think these tree silhouettes are becoming something of an obsession with me.
DeleteI definitely want to follow up Hilary's suggestion above of Thermofax Screens - I've been considering it for a while ... but how do I choose which one?! Like you, I can't decide at all ... and I have lots I've not posted to throw into the mix! But I do have plans on how to use it (or will it be them?).
