Maybe you can guess

... what I've been experimenting with - more Adobe Photoshop ...

This time, I've discovered a new delight - the cutout option which allows me to remove detail and abstract the basic planes in an image thus saving time with tracing paper when I work on designs - excellent!

I used this on that crate in the Red Roy post last week ...

and on one of my small pieces of weaving I blogged about earlier in the month ...

I can see this being useful for print blocks, making masks for using transfer dyes and monoprints and probably lots of other things I haven't even thought of yet ...

  1. It's fun to watch you explore. I learned a bit of Photoshop and have tended to stay to tried and true, but the program is so powerful--maybe it is time to do a little exploration of my own! Carry on!

    1. Glad you're enjoying my exploration - so, as I'm sure you can guess, am I!
My husband noticed my enthusiasm and gave me Photoshop for Dummies for my birthday recently so I'm sure I'll find lots more delights soon - will post when anything interesting pops up.

  2. That looks intriguing, I have never been able to get my head around Photoshop but I do enjoy seeing what can be done with it.

    1. So much to get my head around - and a thick book to explain it all ... (I hope) ...!

  3. This all looks very exciting. I only have Elements and find it daunting, but it's so great to see what can be done! I love what you're doing, it's so inspiring!

    1. Glad you're enjoying this. It's a real challenge and definitely on-going!
I'm using Photoshop Elements 12 which I'm finding much easier to use than the old Elements 3 that I had previously. This version come with three levels with lots of help at levels I and 2. Level 2 especially comes with guidance to help you through many of the features..

  4. Margaret, I too have found that masks, stencils, and simplified layers can be sorted and printed out so easily these days!

    1. I'm sure you're right, Olga. I think this will be a very useful application of Photoshop for me.
I'm currently looking into a much better printer because my elderly HP printer is most frustrating and just isn't up to reproducing the colours and especially to printing on fabric. Do you have any thoughts?
