Tidying so I can see the floor!

New shelves and storage boxes plus a week tidying, organising and culling has brought serenity and calm to my work room. I can see what I own, work on my work table, use my sewing machine and find my computer ...

How long is all that going to last?

    1. I know I am very lucky - but the urgency to get going on a project and the boredom of clearing up get afterwards seems to get the better of me.

  3. It's always the ideal, isn't it: a place for everything and everything in its place! That's exactly what I am struggling to achieve right now - and I've found that no matter how hard I try, there are always some bits and pieces that stray. Your work stations look good - and a really decent lot of book spaces - it looks a space conducive to creativity.

    1. A place for everything indeed (thank heavens for IKEA) - now all I have to keep it in its place.
But I will let you into a secret; the job is only 9/10ths done. Just out of sight of the camera to my right are some bits and pieces that are still straying and making a bid to stay. Their fate I have yet to determine!

    1. My husband has been looking the other way as he passes the door of my room for weeks. He's hoping the calm generated by the order and the increased space will keep me in order (and so am I)!

  5. That's fab. I've got a fab space at the moment, but it's so very cold and takes ages to warm up that I'm not very motivated to get in there!

    1. Warmth is vital to creativity ... I'd have been no good at all surviving in a cold dark garret!

  6. ;) great studio space you have. I know what it's like to be able to see the floor after long intervals. My work and tools have a habit of accumulating in layers on any flat surface.

    1. I know all about layers ... and heaps! The problem with them is that, when you disrupt them even the smallest amount, it is then impossible to find anything!

    1. It is a goodie ... I am very lucky. My first aim was to enter and sit down without having to move things first then things sort of snow-balled!

    2. I really like your shelves ... my friend that I house-sit for has such and you can hardly pull a book out, they're packed in there tightly . I am heading there tomorrow for a few days and plan to take full advantage of her books.

    3. Enjoy your friend's books - and her shelves! Do you have IKEA in Canada? They are miraculous providers of sturdy, well-made cheap shelving and bought by the thousands all over the UK.
