Working with mixed media stitched textiles gives me great pleasure.
As well as the joy in the art of making and exploring, there are the friendships formed as work grows.

Hill weaving
Another weaving sample inspired by the sweep of the Cotswold Hills north of Stroud and their map contour lines.
More work needed on choice of weft yarn and the colour range but I quite like the white on white texture changes ...
Oh, I like the white also. One of my 'someday' projects will be a white punchneedle with different layers and embellishments (both real and thread). Now I've got an extra incentive!
Thanks to you both for your comments - next little trial is a piece of weaving in whites and creams to play with texture and fine colour change so I'll be busy when I go to Scotland at the end of the month - it rains a lot there ...! Thanks for the punchneedle thought - sounds interesting and is new to me.
Interesting! I don't work with fabric, but always look for textural ideas in other artists' works. I hope you post photos of your color change experiments.

Very effective.

ReplyDeleteI will indeed - though it may be a while before I post as I'll be away in Scotland and will have little time to work on it before I go, I know ...
