3D Bridge

For sometime now, I've been working towards a 3D piece based on photographs of shadows on a bridge in Pennsylvania - mentioned several times before on this blog (particularly here and here).

It has reached this stage so far ... a maquette in paper of photographs and random monoprint cut into strips ...

Now to realise in stitch ... and more cloth from Fingerprint?

  1. Awesome! So this is printed cloth adhered to paper that you'll now stitch? Hard to tell how big it actually is. But I love what you're doing!

    1. Thanks very much, Connie ... this mock-up is all printed papers on light card. I usually try out 3D pieces in this way before committing myself to cloth, especially when I'm using such strong images which need to be placed very carefully to achieve the effect I want.
It is about 15 cm (6 ins) tall by 20 cm (8 ins) across its longest dimension. Size of the final cloth piece is the next thing I need to sort out before I get the images printed.

    1. And it's very helpful in working out proportions and how possible images may relate to on another ... essential when planning 3D work to be seen from back and front and even from all around.
