And tree trials again

Some more experimenting with stitch and keeping everything abstract. This time I played with variations in length and interval and stitched with fine thread to keep it subtle.

I like the widely spaced threads and this fine (it was a fine crochet thread) is good for close up detail but I will need to use perlé 8 or even 5 if it's to be seen from a distance on a larger piece.

  4. Gosh,Margaret, I do love the 'abstracts' you've been posting lately. Exciting and very effective use of stitch. I confess abstracts defeat me totally but I am drawn to them nonetheless. You are inspiring me to try again!

    1. Thank you so much for your enthusiastic comment - so encouraging.
I think abstracts are becoming my work of choice just now, but there's so much to try out with the stitch ... what works from a distance and what is only seen close up when the viewer is enticed to look more closely ... and then there is always the problem of how to generate the abstract form so it has depth and meaning to suggest to the viewer ... among so many other things.
